Message to foreign
students at their third year of studies looking for an
internship at
DIBRIS
I frequently receive requests from students who are looking for an
opportunity of internship at the Department of Computer and
Information
Sciences under my guidance. In particular, many of them are third
year
students at Indian Universities.
If you are one of these, please be aware of the following.
As I can see from the CV's that I receive, these students have
usually
a good to excellent record track.
I also had experiences with young Indian researchers and in
general it
was a pleasure to work with them.
Unfortunately I don't usually have funds available for supporting
internships at the third year level. Some financial support is
occasionally available for the PhD and postdoctoral levels only.
It is not a matter of general funding. Even if I have research
funds,
budgets are pre-allocated and you cannot decide to use a part of
them
for funding third-year students. This must be done with money
provided
especially for this purpose, which usually is not available.
For the same reason, I cannot host you even if you declare that
you
will not ask for large sums. I believe you when you explain, as
many of
you do, that you are not going to have an expensive way of life.
But
this is not the point. I simply don't have the right type of
funds, not
quantity (although a trip from India to Europe may be expensive).
Therefore, if you are strongly motivated, I encourage you to look
for
some grant to support yourself.
